We recommend selecting a blanket weight that is around 6%-10% of the intended user’s body weight. We don't recommend choosing a heavier blanket if it’s your first time. A 20 lbs 60”x80” weighted blanket is suitable for 180 lbs - 220 lbs individuals who sleep on a queen or king-sized bed. Please keep in mind that the size of the weighted blanket only covers the body, not the bed.

Unlike regular blankets, weighted blankets are filled with hypoallergenic, non-toxic polypropylene glass beads. The glass beads are sewn into self-contained small pockets that are evenly distributed throughout the blanket. These glass beads give the blanket its weight, so weighted blankets are heavier than regular blankets. Another way weighted blankets differ from regular blankets is that they should be sized to fit the person's body and not their bed. The reason is that weighted blankets hang over the side of the bed will inevitably pull toward the floor.
